Greetings Triton Families,
The health office wanted to share three updates in this newsletter. Thank you for reading and supporting the health of our Triton Community!

1. HAND, FOOT, + MOUTH DISEASE (COXSACKIEVIRUS) |
There has been quite an occurrence of Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease, otherwise known as coxsackievirus. This is a common virus that is generally mild and presents with a low grade fever, sore throat, and cold symptoms. This virus is very contagious and is spread quickly in the school setting. Always keep in mind - what is mild for your child may not be mild for all children.
The hallmark of this illness is a blister-like rash that appears on the palms of hands, soles of feet, and inside of the mouth. It can also appear in the groin, on the buttocks, inside of elbows, and backs of knees. The fever usually resolves quickly, but the rash can last up to 10 days.
|
|
PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME IF THEY: |
- Have a fever over 100.4 that has occurred within the last 24 hours
-
Have blisters that are open or draining
- Are not able to wash hands, cover coughs/sneezes
|
|
|
There have been reported cases of Measles (Rubeola) in Minnesota. This is a virus that is extremely contagious, preventable by vaccine, and can be very serious. Most complications occur in children under 5 or adults over 20. It can be especially dangerous to pregnant women. There have NOT been any reported cases at Triton, but we are providing education in an effort to prevent any cases here at school.
The virus presents with a fever, then a rash that starts at the hairline and spreads down the face. The rash continues to spread down the face, neck, and body over the next 5-6 days. The virus will also cause a cough, runny nose, and watery or mattery eyes. This virus is spread through the air which makes it spread very easily and quickly.
If you or your child have been exposed to measles, please stay home and contact your healthcare provider right away.
|
|
PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME IF THEY:
|
- Your child has a fever over 100.4. They need to stay out of school until the fever is resolved for 24 full hours without any fever reducing medication.
- There is a rash on the hairline or face that
accompanies the fever
- A cough is present with the fever and rash

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SEPTEMBER + OCTOBER PROFILE OF A GRADUATE AWARD WINNERS! |
Congratulations to the latest Profile of a Graduate Award Winners! Our Triton teachers have selected one student per grade level to receive this honor. These students continue to be leaders and role models. They have excelled in the profile area of Communication.
The Triton Profile of a Graduate is our locally developed approach to what it means to be a graduate of Triton High School. We have incorporated many principles and competencies designed to help all students develop the skills necessary for success in college, in a career, and most importantly in life.
The Profile of a Graduate is designed around a community-engaged process to create a beacon for future educational strategic planning. It presents a clear visualization of priority goals for teaching and learning that can be easily communicated to students, parents, and staff to align collective efforts. Our Profile articulates the Triton community’s aspirations for all students and will serve as a North Star for future system transformation.

Triton Families,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the Triton families for their ongoing support and engagement. We want to provide all students the best learning experiences possible, and we cannot accomplish that without this ongoing partnership.
As a reminder, the Triton Capital Project Levy vote is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4. We are conducting this election based on our current financial situation. We surveyed district residents this summer, and the majority were in favor of the $650,000/Year for ten years tax increase. That is why we followed through and are asking for approval for this amount.
