Congratulations to the latest Profile of a Graduate Award Winners! These students continue to be leaders and role models. They have excelled in the profile areas of integrity and dependability.
The Triton Profile of a Graduate is our locally developed approach to what it means to be a graduate of Triton High School. We have incorporated many principles and competencies designed to help all students develop the skills necessary for success in college, in a career, and most importantly in life.
The Profile of a Graduate is designed around a community-engaged process to create a beacon for future educational strategic planning. It presents a clear visualization of priority goals for teaching and learning that can be easily communicated to students, parents, and staff to align collective efforts. Our Profile articulates the Triton community’s aspirations for all students and will serve as a North Star for future system transformation.
Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is growing and learning. The screening includes a developmental assessment, vision and hearing tests, height and weight measurement and an immunization and health history review. The state of Minnesota recommends this at age 3 and requires screening before kindergarten entrance.
The purpose of this free screening is to identify children who may need additional time and assistance to be ready for school. The sooner we get started, the more likely your child will begin school with the necessary skills to succeed.
Our next screening is on Friday, February 7th. Visit our website to sign up. Email mknutson@triton.k12.mn.us with questions or to set up an alternate time.

The 7th grade Language Arts classes recently read the beloved classic, A Christmas Carol. They also used the Triton PAC stage to act out scenes from the play. As a special conclusion to this unit, Mrs. Rossi organized a field trip to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis so students could see a professional performance of the play. The staff that attended the trip said our students represented Triton well! They had respectful theater etiquette and clearly enjoyed the show. They even had a little fun and got the entire audience to do the wave during the intermission! What an experience!
The 8th Grade spent the day together with staff from Youth Frontiers. This day is meant to inspire students to use courage to do the right thing and make responsible decisions despite their fears. There was an amazing group of Triton High School leaders that joined them during the day and facilitated meaningful group conversations about acting with courage. Students often reflect back on the Courage Retreat as a favorite middle school memory!
Weekly emails will be sent every Wednesday if your child has a missing assignment in Infinite Campus
Homework Club is on Wednesdays. It starts after school and ends at 4 PM. Your child will need to be picked up at that time
The Homework Link will show you what work the teacher has assigned in class during the week
December is off to a wonderful start at Triton High School. The students have been working hard and are progressing academically and socially. I am also continually impressed with our talented and dedicated staff. I greatly appreciate their tireless work in providing our students with engaging and meaningful learning experiences. A few important upcoming events are listed below.
Beyond HS Day - Monday, December 16
We have a late start on Monday, December 16. On this day, students will have a 45-minute advisory period, followed by career and industry speaker sessions. We hope this experience will help our students develop a greater sense of what they want to accomplish after graduating from Triton High School. Please note there is no senior release or work place experience release on late start days.
End of Semester Timelines
At this time of year, it is normal for students and families to be focused on having a break, and there is always a high level of anticipation for the holidays. With everything going on, it is important to remember that the end of the semester is just over one month away. Time will continue to move very quickly, and we wanted to make sure and share some important reminders for the end of the semester.
The end of the semester can be an exhilarating time and also a very stressful time. It is always appreciated when families connect with their children and discuss current levels of learning and what needs to be done before the end of the semester. Any parents needing Infinite Campus grade book access are encouraged to contact the high school office or middle school office. Parents are also encouraged to reach out to any teachers as questions arise. We want to make sure and communicate in advance to promote a partnership established on trust and accountability and we want to avoid surprises at the end of the grading period.
Friday, January 24 (3:30 PM) - Semester one grades will be available in Infinite Campus
Monday, January 27 - Report cards mailed
Friday, February 7 - Incompletes must have a grade assigned
Students in current activities with a failing grade "F" at the semester will be ineligible to compete until Saturday, February 8. Students with an incomplete will be ineligible until Saturday, February 8, or until they receive a passing grade
Thank you for taking the time to read through this newsletter and for staying up to date with your child's educational journey.

On behalf of the Triton AAA Selection Committee, we are proud to recognize Corey Lilledahl and Gigi Lundi as the 2024-2025 AAA Award Winners. The purpose of the AAA Award Program is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts. To qualify for the AAA Award, high school seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, participate in league-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities, and comply with the MSHSL's Student Code of Conduct.
Congratulations to Corey and Gigi! We thank you for being excellent role models and leaders in Academics, Arts, and Athletics!
The EXCEL Award is a MSHSL program designed to recognize students who demonstrate excellence in Community Service, Education, and Leadership. Through a committee selection process, Triton has named Diego Ibarra-Castillo and Abigail Wirkus the winners of the award for the 2024-2025 school year! Each will move onto the state level as representatives of Triton.
We are pleased to report that we are continuing to make improvements to the Concurrent Enrollment Program at Triton High School. If you are not familiar with Concurrent Enrollment, it provides students with a platform to earn college credits free of charge without having to leave Triton High School. Our teachers have gone through extensive continuing education to be qualified to teach these courses and each course requires a liaison and sponsorship from a local college.
The staff at Triton High School have worked hard to develop a solid Concurrent Enrollment Program that meets the needs of students with a wide range of college and career plans. A few concurrent enrollment highlights are listed below.
We currently have 402 concurrent enrollment registrations for this school year (229 for semester 1, and 173 for semester 2).
We offer 57 college credits through concurrent enrollment.
This year our students are on pace to earn more than 1,100 college credits without having to leave our school.
A special thank you goes out to our staff for continuing to explore and extend concurrent opportunities and to Ms. Runnells for continuing to advocate for and expand our offerings.
A course breakdown of our current college offerings is listed below.
English 1 (Reading and Writing Critically 1 & 2), English 2 (Early American Literature and Modern American Literature), Technical English, Speech, Technical Math, College Algebra, Fundamentals of Statistics, Environmental Biology, Biology, Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, American Government, Food Science, Plant Science, Intro to Education Careers, FYEX (First Year Experience),
It is important to mention that earning college credit is not for everyone and we continue to provide numerous opportunities for all of our students through local partnerships and work-embedded experiences.
We have received feedback from our community and families that they would like to see live streaming of events continue. We are excited to let you know that we view live streaming as an opportunity to connect our school community and that we also want to see this service continue.
Live-streamed games and activities have changed for this year. We will now be streaming through Hudl Fan and not YouTube. All Triton home events that are streamed can be accessed via the link HERE or by visiting www.triton.k12.mn.us and clicking on the Activities tab.
Thank you to the Triton Booster Club and our sponsors for making streaming a free service for our community and Cobra supporters.
Thank you for tuning in and for supporting our athletes and activity participants.
